The new Royal has been specifically designed in conjunction with clinicians to meet the future health care needs of the population and includes:

The Emergency Department will be one of the biggest in the North West with its own CT scanner and special lifts for patients going straight to the operating theatres. There will be dedicated ambulance only access to the new Emergency Department.
The corridors within the building measure over 4.5km, which is over 4 times the distance between Anfield and Goodison Park and throughout there hospital there will be a total of 4906 doors and 2156 windows.Here Scott Latta our onsite account consultant shares his update on the project so far.

Scott Latta - On-site account consultant shares his experiences:

What is Carillion building? Carillion are building a new single occupancy hospital. This will be the flagship hospital for the North West.
What stage is it at? The project is now in the final stages of completion, with fit out, final fix, commissioning and QA/QC (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) going on as we speak and is set to open in 2018.
How many SkyBlue candidates at peak have been working on the site? 80/90
What type of roles were/are you filling?  The majority of the roles have been around logistics (general operatives, small works handymen and plant operators) as the project has gone on, I have recruited more and more white collar roles, such as site managers, construction managers and quality assurance technicians.
What’s been the biggest challenge for you personally onsite? The biggest challenge has been installing a work culture in to people who haven’t worked for some time. I have worked with line managers to help them understand that initially it may be a bit of a struggle for them to be in work for 7am but we have been committed to offering positions to the long term unemployed in the region so challenges like this are easily overcome.
What’s been the most interesting thing onsite for you personally? Working alongside Liverpool in work, and BITC engaging with the hardest to reach individuals in the city, and helping those individuals gain employment on the project.
What does a typical day entail for you? I get to site for 8am and go through my emails from the night before. I then usually call over to the logistics office onsite to check the days site register to make sure everyone is in and deal with any absentees/queries form the logistics department. I work on current live vacancies and there is always a steady stream of people coming to register their details for potential work, along with the workers onsite coming in to have a chat about any future work as the project is coming to an end.
What key attributes are you looking for prospective candidates to possess? Dedication to get to site on time and put in a good shift throughout the day. Someone that wants to be here and work hard is the ideal candidate for us.
