SkyBlue to recruit a variety of workers for the development of new Royal Liverpool University Hospital on behalf of the main contractor, Carillion PLC. As part of the customer’s sustainability strategy the team committed to hiring local people for at least 60% of job vacancies on the site. This is to cover construction, landscaping and civil engineering trades people for the project, which will start in early 2014 and complete in 2017.
SkyBlue have a dedicated recruitment team permanently located at the Hospital site, sourcing a wide range of skills and trades people including general operatives and project managers to help bring phase one of the new hospital to life. SkyBlue are able to provide long-term work prospects throughout the entire life cycle of the project and beyond as well as being well placed to also up-skill and train new staff with help from local workforce and training providers.
Over the course of the project, some 750 full-time jobs will be created during construction period. 15% of the workforce will come from priority council wards in the city and 100 apprenticeships will be created.
